He holds a master in “criminology and victims’ rights” from the University of Pau (UPPA, Pau, France) and a master in “fundamental penal law” from the University of Montpellier (Montpellier I, France). Benjamin Sayous is currently completing a thesis whose subject is: restorative justice: criminological and procedural aspects”, in which he deals with the institutionalization of restorative justice in France.
Committed to the cause of aid to victims since 2003, he is a founding member of the French Institute for Restorative Justice (IFJR) in 2013 of which he was the general secretary before becoming its director in 2014.As part of his activities for the Institute, he drew up a report on the integration of restorative justice within APCARS in January 2014. Under the supervision of Professor Robert Cario, he is currently making the evaluation of the Prisoner-Victim Meetings programme (Rencontre Condalnés-Victimes, RCV) implemented by the Regional Service for Restorative Justice (Service Régional de Justice Restaurative, SRIR “Ile-de-France”) of the APCARS.
